Course Objectives

The purpose of this preparatory course is to provide the business student with a strong fundamental understanding of college algebra. The course will cover the following topics: Polynomials, roots and radicals, systems of equations and inequalities, relations and functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, series an dthe binomial theorem. It will prepare the student for the mathematical requirements of advanced classes in finance, statistics and operations management.

Course Organization

The course is organized around lectures and exercises. The lectures will emphasize the important concepts, while the exercises will illustrate the applications. A TI83 calculator is required.
